Odysseus and his men arrive at the shore of the cyclops's island of Polyphemus. Odysseus sends men to scout the island. His men return and discovering cheese and wine from a cave. They feast and help themselves until Polyphemus returns. They try to reason with the cyclops by saying they were his friend. Polyphemus acted like he didn't hear what Odysseus said and grabs two of his men and eats them. Approximately five days they were stuck in that cave. Whenever the cyclops was asleep, they would try to kill him, but they wouldn't be able to move the great stone that is in they way. Six men were eaten by Polyphemus. One day, they struck his eye with a long stick. Polyphemus moves the stone and yells for his brothers. The men tie themselves to the sheep. The next morning, Polyphemus lets his sheep out to frolic. Since Polyphemus is blind, he wouldn't know that Odysseus and his men were tied to the sheep. Odysseus and his men run back to the ship and sail away. Odysseus then taunts the cyclops. Polyphemus throws a bolder at them almost knocking them to shore when he sends a prayer to Poseidon.
